What It Is
The Canoe Club Legacy Mission Brief is Bill Bandy's free weekly newsletter, the companion to his Friday readings of the Canoe Club Legacy on YouTube. Every week Bill reads a new chapter aloud. Every Thursday, the day before, Mission Brief subscribers get a first look at that chapter, along with the real history, places, gear and training behind what happens on the page.
Think of it as the briefing before the mission. By the time the chapter goes live, you already know the ground it covers.
How It Works
Each Thursday a short email arrives with a link to that week's Brief. Read it right in your browser, or download it as a PDF to keep. A typical issue carries:
• A link to Friday's premiere and a short introduction to the week's chapter.
• Understanding The Tech, a plain-English column that takes one piece of the chapter's technology, training or operations and explains how it really worked, or walks you through the history and geography under the scene.
• An excerpt from the chapter, 800 to 1,200 words, that stops at a moment worth waiting until Friday for.
• What to listen for in Friday's reading, and a then-and-now look at how the places and things in the chapter have changed since.
• The sources behind it all, for anyone who wants to dig deeper, and a preview of the week ahead.
